This
is Precious. She is a Xoloitzcuintli. She is one of the
rarest dogs in the world. This breed is unchanged since the Aztecs
first developed them 5,000 years ago. They were bred for companionship
and to help people with arthritis or any pain. Since they are
hairless, their body heat helps the pain when they are placed on the
sore part. They are the world's first heating pads! Xolos also were
buried with rulers to help them find their way in the underworld. The
same gene that makes them hairless also makes them almost toothless.
This doesn't stop Precious from enjoying hard food though. I rescued
Precious when she was eight years old. She was taken to be killed at the
dog pound by her owners. Furkidsrescue saved her and I adopted her
from them. Precious is as sweet as can be. She loves to snuggle under
my covers and wants to be with me always.
