About Us
Arctica, the Dog of the Day
Name: Arctica
Age: Four and a half years old
Gender: Female Breed: American Eskimo
Home: Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

Arctica (Artie) joined our family as a gift for our father on Labor Day, 1996 and every day since has been a pure joy. Amazingly, this eight week old, little white ball of fluff ran directly to her new dad, selected intuitively without hesitation from a large crowd, and sat obediently at his feet, looking up at him almost as if to say, "Here I am, pick me up and hug me." The tears were flowing freely: Definitely destiny. So incredibly intelligent; without ever having attended obedience school, she does the whole routine flawlessly: Sit, down, heel, stay, etc., as well as numerous tricks, were picked up almost immediately as if she understood English from day one when sitting at dad's feet. Her insight into our emotions is uncanny and she knows just when you need that extra little bit of unconditional love that she so freely gives in the form of hugs (yes hugs) or by offering up a favorite stuffed toy, snuggling in and cuddling with you both. Her energy and enthusiasm for life brightens even the gloomiest of days and her comedic escapades keep us all smiling and laughing. There is no way that we could possibly come near returning to her what she has given to us... but we all try. A biased opinion: Artie is, by a long shot, the best dog in the world.
