This
is Rico. He is my four-month-old Yellow Lab baby. I met this little
guy while I was doing an opera in Milwaukee. There was a scene in the
opera (Of Mice and Men) where one of the characters is singing an aria
and petting a puppy, and Rico was one of the two they used for the run
of the show. He was so good, never cried or peed on the performers!
Well I really wasn't shopping for another dog at the time, but once I
saw him and got to know his background, he just had to come home with me.
A few weeks after the show ended, we began puppy classes. Once again,
Rico was a star. On the final day of class there was a surprise "hands
free" contest, where the dogs competed against each other to see who
learned the most over the six week course. Rico won the blue ribbon by
being the only puppy in the class to perform every command given to him!
(Not without an audible protest on 'down,' but he went down all the
same!) In his spare time, Rico enjoys playing with his big brother
Denver. In true lab form, he also enjoys collecting and hiding my socks
from me!
