This
is Buckwheat... the most playful, lovable, spunky, loyal dog I have
ever known. She is an eight year old Golden Retriever whom we received as a
gift from our friends, and her parents were two well-known show dogs.
Buck's favorite pastimes must be playing football (for her favorite
team the Steelers), and hunting out squirrels in our back yard - not to
mention the holes she chews in the carpets and the trash she pulls out
all across the house. Buckwheat's oldest companion had been our Nanday
Conure, Magellan, who spent every waking minute with Buck. Though we
sadly had to rehome Magellan due to allergic reactions some of us were
developing, Buckwheat is now getting along great with Babbers, the two-
year-old Lop bunny who we rescued from a local animal shelter. Since
day one, Buck has always been a runner and will some times chew through
the fence in the back yard to go through a stroll around the fields.
Not to worry ... she always returns in time for dinner. As you can see,
Buckwheat is a sucker for a belly scratch and back rub, and her perky
ears and adorable eyes always do it for me. Buckwheat is a huge part of
the family, and she always will be.
