Nikki
was adopted from the local SPCA, here in Calgary, Canada when she
was two years old. She is special to us because we don't have children...
she's brought so much joy to our home. Every day is an adventure!! I'm
known as "Nikki's Mom" around the neighborhood!
My name is Nikki, I was only two when my Mommy walked through the SPCA. I
could tell she needed a friend, so I sat there looking very pretty. She
stopped and admired my pretty white eyelashes, but it was so noisy in
there I couldn't hear anything so I looked up and gave a long, sad howl...
to ask everyone to please be quiet for a minute. It must've worked
cause Mommy came right in my cage and called Dad from her cell phone,
and I let him hear me howl, too. I could sit and shake a paw and they
liked that, 'cause they brought me home and now we go for two-hour walks
every day. I even have my own room!
In the next few months we went to obedience school and I learned to roll
over, down, stay, look, speak high five and pray (I just sit, put my
paws on Mommy's arm and then look down... so it looks like I'm
praying). I really liked learning new tricks. My Gramma thinks I'm
really smart! One thing I do and... I just can't seem to help myself...
is 'mouse'. When we go to the off leash park, I spend most of my
time bouncin' around like Tigger. Some people think I'm part gazelle,
but I just can't help myself... so many mice and such little time!
I have little kitty named Maui as my friend and roommate. I really like
chasing other cats but Maui was here first so I don't chase her. She's
pretty cool - for a cat - so when the neighbor's dog barks at her, I
stand in front of her and bark back. She needs me to protect her. Some
of Mommy's friends told me that I'm in doggie heaven... I think they're right.
