Poco
is so special to us and a love. He was rescued last year from a
terribly inhumane puppy mill that was closed down. Poor Poco had never
been out of a cage for five years and his feet had never touched grass.
When we picked him up from the Humane Society you could see every rib
sticking out from his sides. He did not know how to stand. Now he loves
to run, jump, take walks, and just be with his humans. He's a wonderful
little being who fills our life with joy.
Poco has such a gentle soul. His two favorite things in the world are
taking walks with his humans around the neighborhood, and snuggling. He
has many fans now on his walks, as so many people and children think he
is so cute. People yell out from their yards - "Hi Poco!" when we go by.
Poco loves to hug and he's a real lap dog. He will sit content for
hours on his human's laps just happy to be with them. Then jump up and
put his little paws around your neck and give you a big lick on the
cheek. He is so appreciative of everything too. Every night when his
food dish is filled, he first looks up with that look - "Wow, you're
kidding! That is for me?" Then he runs over and gobbles up everything.
He is learning to sit, stay, shake hands, and sit up. He's really
smart and learns very quickly. He is so proud whenever we say "good
dog." He and Mimi, our cat, are still warming up to each other.
Mimi was here first so she is the hardest to convince, but even she has
learned to like Poco.
