Hi,
I'm Kimber! This is me, in my final days. This is mumma's old
sweatshirt, from the 1980's... ha ha - I laughed at it too until I put it
on and got all warm and snuggly buggly in it. This was taken around
Thanksgiving of 2002. I only look really tiny for an English Cocker
Spaniel in this picture, but I was a normal size.
I had to go in for eye surgery one day and my vet had trouble getting
the tube down my throat. He said I had a tumor that was very big, and it
was blocking my airway. Ohh my family was very sad to hear this. I went
to see an oncologist who said I had only about a month to live. My
family was so upset. I was put on medication to help with the pain and
to try to keep the cancer under control. The medicine took its toll on
me though and I had some side effects the day before thanksgiving. My
cancer specialist told mum to take me off of it for a day until mum was
able to fill a prescription for another medicine. But it was too hard
for me to keep the tumor under control. My sister woke up on
Thanksgiving day and came in to see me and she started crying! She ran
to her mum and daddy saying the whole side of my neck was swollen! She
said she could feel the tumor. I was struggling to breathe it had grown
so much overnight. My entire family came to my house for Thanksgiving
dinner that day, and everyone said their good-byes to me. I even made my
rounds around the house making sure I said my good-byes too. (Especially
to grammy and Grampy) Finally I heard my mum call the emergency vet
saying I needed to take a long nap, because I would surely suffocate
overnight otherwise. My loved ones were right beside me as I closed my
eyes and was finally set free from all the pain.
