This
is Gus, the cairn terrier. He just turned two, and had a big party
with his cousin Riley (a Pekingese), including party hats and frosty
paws. Yum! Gus's favorite leisure activities include: verbally lashing
any delivery vans, such as the paperboy, FedEx guy, mailman, or any
large white vehicle, playing ball-ee, cleaning daddy's ears with his
tongue, and keeping the yard free of kitties and squirrellies. Another
favorite game is 'defending the stairs'. Gus will lay at the top of our
staircase, and when you yell, "what are you doing up there," he comes
tearing down the stairs, poised to attack.
Gus loves to go into crazy dog mode. He'll hop onto the couch, flip
himself upside down, push off the end like he's swimming, and then start
snapping his jaws like an alligator. Or, he'll go "turbo" and start
running figure eights around the living room until he collapses on the
foyer. Gus loves to dance. He'll stand on his back legs and walk
around the room for at least five minutes. He has very good balance.
Gus works very hard all day sleeping, and when his mom comes home from
work, he greets her at the door with a series of loud "Whooors," usually
with a ball in his mouth, so it sounds quite funny. Gus is a very
spoiled dog... He is fed only the best organic food, snacks on carrots
and plums, and gets brushed much more often than he'd like. Gus is even
so spoiled that he has his own armchair in our bedroom to sleep in,
which he uses when he's not camped out under the bed in the "Gus Cave."
Gus really is the greatest little dog in the world. (Just don't tell him
he's little... or a dog.)
