Peri, the Dog of the Day
Name: Peri
Age: Fourteen years old
Gender: Male Breed: Keeshond
Home: Pennsylvania, USA

Peri was a born show dog, and sired outstanding show dogs, but his greatest achievement was not in the show ring or as a sire. It was in being my best friend and his unwavering love for me and the desire to make my life the best he could.

Each night he saw it as his "job" to walk from kennel to kennel with me feeding each and every dog and making sure none of them over stepped their bounds. It was his "job" to be sure that I was protected when I fed the horses or walked to the mail box. He was ever vigilant to see that no squirrel or rabbit be lurking in an attack mode .

Peri and I traveled 40,000 miles together. He always slept in the motel room, free of his crate between the air conditioner and me, ever the great protector, but still liking his creature comforts! When I would take a bath, Peri would sit with his front paws over the edge of the tub to make sure that I did not drown. He saw his most important task in life as that of my personal protector.

Every day of his thirteen years and eleven months, Peri has made me smile. He will live forever through the memories of joy which he has brought to me and the joy that he took in living. He looked forward to everyday as a new day and a new adventure. So with this, I bid adieu, with my heart felt love and thanks to Peri, my perfect puppy. God's speed, my friend. You have graced my life as no other dog could. I am so blessed to have known you. Rest in peace, my perfect puppy. Leaving my life is the only thing you have ever done wrong.
