Taler, the Dog of the Day
Name: Taler
Age: Eight years old
Gender: Female Breed: Siberian Husky
Home: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

This is Taler, our beloved family pet. And I mean beloved, we're horrible for giving her tidbits from the table, but Taler has us figured out, she's got her puppy eyes down pat! She came into our life eight years ago, when the breeders had thought that she wouldn't be large enough to race on a team. She was "petite" back then, but nevertheless, has grown to the perfect size; one centimeter below the showing standard.

She's a Siberian husky, which have become very popular now ever since the release of the movie "Snow Dogs." We can almost see Taler cringing when a child comes running up yelling "Look! A Snow Dog!" But despite the increase of the breed, and her small size, Taler is a package of personality, and has never ceased to amaze us with her quirks. There are so many things she can't stand. There's always something she's growling at - hot air balloons, caterpillars, even orange garbage bags (the green ones don't seem to bother her), but despite her many hates, she loves people, so she's a horrible guard dog. But we can always trust her to protect us from those awful orange garbage bags!

Taler also has a strange obsession with pillows. We've given up trying to keep them out of her reach, she always finds them. The sight of a pillow sends her into a joyous frenzy! She loves to rub her head on them, and dig "fake holes" into the feathery masses, all the while uttering playful grunts. I can't possibly write down all the strange things she does. Like any other Husky though, she loves winter! While we're all inside, complaining about having to shovel snow, Taler is right outside the patio windows, bouncing around, and rubbing her face in the snow, like a massive outdoor pillow. Every day we wait to see what else she'll come up with. I believe she lives to entertain our family, and for eight whole years, and counting, she's been doing a wonderful job.
