Stoffer
is very special to us. He makes us laugh and brings happiness to
our lives every day. We found him as a stray at the local RSPCA shelter
(Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in 2002. When
we brought him home, there was a bit of an adjustment period! While he
was very well trained in terms of obedience, he just couldn't resist
re-landscaping our young garden. He ripped out plants, dug holes, and
chewed sapling trees in half. After a short, destructive period, we
decided to compromise. Stoffer got to destroy the back yard, and we got
to keep the front yard - where most of our hard work was being tampered
with! It has worked well. He has outgrown the plant annihilation phase,
but is still partial to a bit of digging. We also went through a Houdini
period, where he discovered how to escape the back yard when we weren't
home. Neighbors reported seeing him at the local shopping complex, and
occasionally he got home after we did. A new fence put an end to
unsupervised excursions...
Stoffer is so friendly and loving. He loves meeting new people and
making friends, and hanging out with his best friend Oscar the Golden
Retriever. He very rarely barks, and never bites. Stoffer's favorite
things are: being inside the house, walkies, food, playing, and getting
pats and attention, in any order. Stoffer tolerates with good humour:
bath time. Stoffer's least favorite things are: thunder, fireworks, and
anything else that resembles thunder or fireworks. He is an excellent
goalie, and would be an asset to any soccer team. He also loves to leap
in the air to catch a ball or frisbee, and often tries to beat me at tug
of war. Just look at that face - he's our Dog of the Day every day!
