My
Mom and Dad adopted me when I was nine months old. I didn't have many
manners when they got me, but they were patient and I know lots of
things now.
I'm special because I am a 140-pound-lap dog. I love my family,
although it might be questionable when it comes to my little doggie
sister, Raina. She's kind of a pest. My best friend is a Manx cat
called Echo.
I am not much of a watch dog, preferring to just make noise and lay
there until Mom or Dad goes to see what's going on. I am loud though,
so I can get their attention quickly. I let the deer and bear walk
right by me when I'm in the yard, and I never make a sound. But, let
them try that when I'm in the house! I make lots of noise then because
I know I'm safe.
My favorite activities are giving tongue baths to my people, riding in
the truck, and going for a walk. I know what walk means, so Mom and Dad
changed the word. (To cruise. He hasn't caught onto that one yet.) I love
to walk in the woods because I can explore all the little animal holes
and sometimes I can be off my leash. That's my favorite part.
I have had some health problems, my back is fusing, and I'm allergic to
lamb. Someone also shot me in the chest with a .22 pellet gun before
Mom and Dad got me. The vet found pellets imbedded in my chest on an
x-ray one time when I was sick.
Moose is special because he is very sweet and loving. He has a
sensitive side and is completely in tune with his people. He has slowed
down a great deal in the past couple of years and can no longer jump
into the back of the truck. He tires quickly, but is still always ready
to go for a walk or a ride. Although it's true that he's not a great
watchdog, he is very vocal and not much escapes his notice.
Life without him would be very dull. For all the great companionship
he's provided for over nine years, he deserves the title of Dog of the Day!
