About Us
Gretchen, the Dog of the Day
Name: Gretchen
Age: Ten years old
Gender: Female Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Home: Uxbridge, Massachusetts, USA

Gretchen is extremely intelligent, loving, loyal and has a special way of making us smile and touching our hearts. She is just so smart, it is like having another person in the house.

We have had Gretchen since she was eight weeks old. We were originally going to purchase a male GSD and then pick out a male Boxer, but when we saw this beautiful female GSD puppy with her huge ears and a look in her eye that would melt your heart, we ended up brining home Gretchen along with her littermate Hans. It was love at first sight. Well, just nine months later, we still bought a Boxer and ended up with our Three Stooges. Gretchen eventually grew into her huge ears and turned out to be a beautiful lady.

Gretchen was always the alpha of the pack and called all the shots with her brothers, Hans & Mozart, but they all got along for the most part and loved to cuddle and spend time together.

Gretchen has had a few obstacles to face in her life from having knee surgery and major back surgery. Also, she has had to contend with losing Hans & Mozart, but they will be together again at The Rainbow Bridge. We lost our beloved Hans back in 2002 due to severe health issues and our Mozart just passed away due to a lung tumor on July 13th 2005. Gretchen misses them terribly and is adjusting to being the solo dog now. We all miss Hans & Mozart more than words can say! We are trying to keep her occupied by playing football and taking frequent walks with her. She loves to play with her doll and football and is a big couch potato too, all 95 pounds of her!

Gretchen is an amazing dog, full of personality, love and energy too! You would never know she is ten years old by enthusiasm she brings to each day. In spite of her surgeries and the loss of her pack mates, she still manages to smile and take life in stride. We are extremely proud of her and hope you will be too!
