This
is our baby, Ozzy, a ten-month-old Standard Poodle. I think he
may be more of a Royal Standard since, at ten months, he is already 85
pounds and 28 inches tall at the withers. He's a big bundle of love!
I know all Standard Poodles are highly intelligent, but Ozzy seems to be
especially so. He learns things so quickly. He knows voice and hand
commands. He can: sit, down, sit stay, down stay, speak, whisper (quiet
little woof), shake hands, high five, roll over, stand (from a sit or
lie), sit pretty (front feet up, butt down), two feet (stands on hind
legs), he nods "yes" and shakes his head "no" on my hand signal and he's
now learning to lie down and cross his front legs on command.
Ozzy loves everyone and is always happy to see new people and pets. My
fourteen-year-old son is his special buddy... he took the picture of Ozzy in
the Santa hat. Ozzy sometimes sleeps with my husband and I in our Queen
sized bed... but we're thinking we will have to buy a King sized bed
soon because Oz takes up more space than either myself or my husband!
He loves to play with his stuffed animals and his tennis balls. Ozzy
will bring back anything you throw until your arm falls off! He has a
great sense of humor for a dog. I'm short (5' 0") and Oz thinks it's
great fun to sneak up behind me, duck down, dash between my legs and
then stand up all the way (on all four feet). He's so tall, he picks me
up off the floor, I let out a whoop and try to regain my balance and he
just looks up at me with his huge doggy smile that says "Gotcha again
Mom, ha-ha!"
Ozzy is our special big boy and we'd be lost without him, we all love
him so much. Hope he lives a very long life! Happy Holidays to everyone
