Mukluk, the Dog of the Day
Name: Mukluk
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male Breed: Siberian Husky
Home: Harper Woods, Michigan, USA

Mukluk was found by the Detroit Humane Society one spring with a collar on so small and for so long that It had grown in to his skin so badly that it had to be surgically removed and needed weeks of healing and recovery. My husband and I do volunteer work and dog fostering for our local animal adoption agency, Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society, and I happened to be looking on line at the humane society website and noticed Mukluk's picture although I already had two huskies of my own Talia and Tahoe, and a mutt, Barnyard. I desperately wanted to save this dog's life so we decided to foster him. It took several months before Mukluk got adopted, but we were so happy for him even though we were going to miss him so much. But three days after the adoption the new owners returned him, and we were so happy!

Since that day Monkey (as we call him for short) has become a great member of our family! He is such a great dog! He listens very well and loves to play with his sister Talia they have so much energy they run around the yard all day! Although he still has the occasional argument with his brother (Tahoe) I think they are finally getting used to each other being around. Mukluk loves his dad the most he will carry any of his clothes around the house from socks and shoes to shorts and t-shirts he just likes to have his stuff by him. Mukluk is also a great singer - the best I have heard in a while! Some of his favorite pastimes include sleeping on our Patio table, chasing squirrels and his favorite eating anything he can! He always lets us know when its time to eat by picking up his bowl and carrying it around the house. I am so glad that we ended up with Mukluk I dont know what we would do with out him.
