About Us
Clairiese, the Dog of the Day
Name: Clairiese
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Home: Big Sandy, Texas, USA

Clairiese came to us when she was three months old. She was small for a Corgi, but made up for it in personality. She constantly pushes the envelope, trying new things, testing her ability to outsmart us and gain the upper hand - not out of meanness - but just to see if we are as smart as she is. She quickly obeys when we discover her newest ploy.

She has a ball obsession. If there is a ball in the area, she will have it at my feet, with a impatient look on her face, waiting for me to throw it. If I ignore this, she will dribble the ball at my feet to make sure I know it is there. If I continue to ignore her, she throws the ball at me, if I am sitting, she throws it in my lap. As a last resort she vocally tells me, with a series of grumbles, that I should play with her.

Because of Clairiese and her unique personality, in less than a year from the time that she came to live with us, we started a non-profit, 501(c)3 Corgi and corgi mix rescue which we named Corgi & Critters N.E.T. Rescue, Inc. We currently only have one foster home - our own - and in the first full year of rescue, we rescued 21 dogs and rehomed 15. The others are either still in rescue or have been placed in matching homes since the beginning of our second year.

Clairiese has enjoyed most of the fosters and tolerated the others infringement on her family's time. Without Clairiese, many Corgis, Corgi mixes and even a few unidentified mixes might not have found new lives in loving homes.
