About Us
Annie, the Dog of the Day
Name: Annie
Age: Seven years old
Gender: Female Breed: Silky Terrier
Home: Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Let us tell you about our latest rescue, Annie Grace. She is a Silky Terrier, and is about seven years old. We adopted her through a rescue in South Carolina, Molly's Militia. Annie was a breeder dog for approximately six years, and then when the breeders no longer needed her, they gave her to a family that evidently thought they wanted a dog, but then changed their mind. During the coldest part of the winter season, Annie was kept tied outside to a swing set with a swing chain. She would bark and bark and try to get them to let her back in.

A rescue person with the Militia finally got the family to turn her over to them, and that is when we found her through Petfinder.com. When we first got her, quite a bit of her fur was thin or cut out because it had been matted and tangled. As you can see from the picture, she is doing much, much better, and still has her spunk and spirit. She will stand up to any of the other three dogs in our house. They are all much bigger than she is.

Annie is not scared of anything. She runs after the yard blower, and challenges anything that makes loud noises. She runs up to the vacuum cleaner when I am cleaning, and tries to bite it into pieces. She has taken on our 89 pound lab/shepherd for a chew bone, and that was a showdown! She is quite feisty, and generally fits the Silky Terrier personality, but she is also sweet, and will give out kisses. She tolerates our cats, and ignores them most of the time, but now and again gives them a run for their money. Her favorite treat is a dried jerky chicken tender, and she will dance for that. She loves to have her belly rubbed more than anything else. She also loves to go for car rides. If she hears the keys jingle she comes running. She is a good doggie, and we are glad to let her retire here in our home, and hopefully will have her best years from here on out.

All of our dogs are rescues, and they are simply the best!
