This
is a picture of my sweet, affectionate, active, intelligent,
adorable dog, Kona. I adopted her from the Town Lake Animal Shelter in
Austin, Texas, in 2001 when she was six months old. In the photo, which
was taken during a Boulder snow storm in 2004, she is about three years old.
I cannot be certain of Kona's mix, but I am quite confident she is a
border collie/golden retriever mix. She is smart and active and
displays herding instincts, like a border collie. She is sweet,
affectionate, playful and loves the water, like a golden retriever.
Although she is primarily black and white, she has golden highlights in
her haunches and behind her ears.
Kona and I walk the trails and hike the mountains all summer long. A
few days a week, I mountain bike while she runs along beside me. In the
winter, we still get out every day. She loves to hike, walk, and jog in
the snow. And a frozen creek is one of her favorite playgrounds.
Kona is my best buddy. Kids adore her. People flock to her everywhere
we go. She is an amazing friend and companion.
