Sammy
is a Malamute/Border Collie mix who thinks he is a Black Lab. I
rescued him on the day he was to be euthanized. The plan was for me to
keep him for a week then deliver him to Pasados Safe Haven to be
adopted. Well he never made it there. He is a delightful animal with
tons of personality.
Sammy likes to lay on his back with his legs in the air until I come
over and scratch his belly. On off-leash walks he is an explorer. He
will break trail thru brush and bramble (he imagines he is breaking
trail on the Iditarod race). Near water he will find the largest piece
of wood available and insist that I throw it for him to swim out and
retrieve. His favorite thing is to ride in my truck with his head out
the window. He is very verbal so I always know what he wants.
Unfortunately that includes the 4 a.m. requests for breakfast (hey, the
sun is coming up!) At times he is scary smart. Should I fall asleep in
my Lazyboy before he gets his 11 p.m, potty break and cookie, he will
head butt me and my chair until I get the message.
Sam loves to chase bunnies that dare expose themselves during our walks
and woe be it to the squirrel that trespasses thru his back yard. After
one and a half years as my buddy I still can't figure out why anyone
would turn this wonderful animal into the dog pound. Luckily for me they
did!
