Louise
is a rescue, but my vet says she's part
maltese/poodle/terrier/whatever. I call her "one in a million." We both
live near Los Angeles. She is my paw-fect little dog-ter!
Louise was found in South Central Los Angeles. Someone let her mother go
when she was pregnant because they didn't want to deal with it. Louise's
mom raised her and her two brothers in a pipe in a vacant lot until they
were four weeks old and rescued by an animal adoption agency who
contacted me (they knew I was looking for a rescue doggie).
She's amazing. After my dad died, Louise was one of the only things in
the world who could pull me out and remind me that sunshine exists!
She says "I love you" - seriously. "Ry Ruff Roo!!!"
(See her do so in this video)
And she loves her toy squirrel named "Shirley" and toy duck named "Grandpa" and
toy elephant named "Ellie." Even though she's only around seven pounds, she
can somehow take over an entire bed. But, still she sleeps with me
every night.
Daily life with Louise is precious. Every morning she wakes up, crawls
out from under the covers and kisses my face until I rub her belly. When
she knows it's time for her W-A-L-K (I have to spell it because if I say
it she gets too excited), she runs in circles in front of the door until
I suit her up and we hit the road.
Louise has mastered "sit" and "lay down" and we're currently working on
"shake" and "dance."
Even though I know Louise loves me most, she never holds back from
showing everyone attention - even when it's not wanted. I now use
people's reaction to Louise wanting to kiss them as a sort of "people
tester". If they ooohhh and ahhhh and kiss her back, I know they're a
good person. If they say "eww!" then I say "next!"
Louise has a boyfriend named Wilson. My best friend, Kim, and I adopted
dogs around the same time and Wilson (a apricot poodle) and Louise are
seriously soulmates.
