Sapphire
is a very special dog. That is, she is my alarm clock, my
personal trainer, and my companion. She is the very first sheltie I have
owned. I have owned collies all my life, and for the first time we
down-sized.
She got her name from the dark streaks that are in her eyes. She is a
Blue Merle, with two crystal blue eyes. This is very hard to find in blue
merle shelties, as they usually have one, or even marbled colors.
She is the baby sister to Mel, a rough collie, and has been a great help
to get him up and moving around more in his old age (he is now twelve years
old). She helps me and him stay fit, play ball, and even jumps on him
when dinner is not served fast enough. She loves to bark at anything she
thinks is "dangerous", examples are garbage cans, mail boxes, and
stationary cars. But does it all with a very inquisitive
"bow-wow-wow-wow".
The person who had raised her since a puppy, had five cats at the time, and
she seems to have picked up on the kooky things cats do. She will only
come when she wants attention, she snuggles in your lap, tries to climb
everything in sight, and even comes to the shower door, waits for the
towel to be put down, and rubs herself all over it! She even does it
with my shirts, and has a fanfare running around the house in them like
it's her trophy!
She is a great addition to my family, and we will have many years of fun
and laughter with her.
