Minard
is very special to us. He won the SPCA calender contest two years
ago, we were proud of him. He has a very good personality. He loves
kids and loves to give kisses. He loves to go for rides, so when he
hears me spray my hair, he jumps off the couch and stands by the door.
And of course he generally gets to go. He likes walks so every night we
go for a walk for exercise. When we are out riding we carry his dish
with us, which stays in the car for treats. We always have to stop at
the Dairy Queen for a ice cream cone which we put in his dish. He looks
forward to these treats. Everyone in our area knows him. When people are
out walking on the street and we are on the porch, he goes out on the
sidewalk for a pat and everyone calls him by name.
We go for walks every night and Minard loves to have people stop and
talk to him. He thinks he is a lap dog. I don't know if you knew that
Danes sit on your lap. Minard just backs up and sit down on your lap if
you are watching TV, or enjoying any other activity that involves
sitting. Everyone in our little town know him, so when they see him the
kid holler "Hi, Minard!"
At a parade this summer, the people who were riding on the floats threw
him lots of candy! Of course we gave it to kids that did not get much.
Minard just gets attention wherever he goes - and he takes part in about
everything we do.
