Beau
is the sweetest Labrador I've ever met! Our old dog had died a few
months ago, and so we got Beau from a family who was moving and couldn't
take him. His favorite games are fetch and tug-of-war with his string
toy. He loves to be cuddled and be patted and scratched behind the ears
and when he lies down with you, he's normally on top of you. This is him
catching his frisbee. When we walk him, it's more like he's taking you
for a walk because he pulls so much. His first family must not have
trained him to walk on the leash. So we got him this harness that
prevents him from pulling, which makes walks with him much more pleasant
for both of us.
We've gotten him out of the habit of jumping up on people, but a couple
of times he will just jump up and snatch something from your hands - he
did it to me with his frisbee once. My dad made Beau his own little name
tag by carving the letters and our phone number into a piece of moose
antler and then we hooked it onto his collar. If there is a fly in the
air, Beau will eat it just for us! He has a kennel for sleeping in, but
we leave the door of it open and then he goes in to sleep with mom and
dad. It's really cute to see him just sitting there on the bed, and once
he even laid down on top of mom... it was soooo funny! Well that's our
Beau, if you're ever in St. John's, come take a look, he won't bite!
