About Us
Andy, the Dog of the Day
Name: Andy
Age: One year old
Gender: Male Breed: Lab mix
Home: Carrollton, Mississippi, USA

I found Andy two days after Hurricane Katrina blew through our area in Central Mississippi. Andy had the worst case of mange that I have ever seen. He was rolling in the dirt on the edge of the street trying to scratch his back when I saw him. I knew I could not leave him in that condition. He had never had a kind touch from humans so he was terrified when we caught him and wrapped him in a towel. We took him to my wonderful veterinarian who kept him three weeks where he was treated for the many problems he had. The bottom photo is the day I brought him home after his three-week stay in the hospital. We estimate that he was about three months old when this picture was taken. The top photo was taken recently. You can see that he is now healthy and happy in our home.

Andy loves to go outside to play fetch and take long walks in the woods. He obeys commands and is so well behaved that I can take him in the woods without having him on a leash. I hope the person that threw him out in this condition will see him and recognize that they threw away a jewel.

My veterinarian was so wonderful with Andy and he waived all charges except for the medicine that he needed. He was so sick the first few days that the veterinarian stayed with him at night for several nights giving him the care he needed to survive. Without his care and concern my special Andy surely would not have lived. Oh, by the way, the veterinarian's name is Andy. I could not think of a more fitting name for this special dog.
