We
got Meeko when he was nine months old (in 2001), and he's been a very
important member of the family ever since. He was named after the
raccoon from the Disney movie "Pocahontas." We named him that because he
looks somewhat like him from his unique markings.
Meeko is a herding dog, so he has the obnoxious and annoying instincts
to protect and herd people. He mostly protects his "daddy", and will
herd anyone who comes near. If you even say "daddy", he will start
barking like crazy and will run around the house, looking out the
windows, trying to find his daddy. Meeko also goes crazy when the school
bus comes and goes. All of this behavior may sound a bit too obnoxious
and annoying, but it's often quite hilarious. Meeko isn't always like
this though. When he is "off duty" he's one of the sweetest dogs ever!
Meeko is also very smart. He's very expressive too. He will do these
huge sighs whenever we're talking about him, or not giving him enough
attention, or sometimes just at random. The sighs sound so human... We
also have a cat, and Meeko gets along with him very well. We used to
have a cockatiel, and Meeko would get very jealous when we gave the bird
attention. I think Meeko has the most personality a dog could ever have.
We love Meeko very much.
