If
you couldn't guess by the name "The Duke," my husband is a major John
Wayne fan. The Duke was brought home to me when he was five months old.
His previous owner lived in an apartment and The Duke was kept in a cage
all day long. This guy was known for getting large dogs as puppies and
not being able to take care of them so he would let them loose or his
parents would end up taking care of them. This was the fourth dog he had
done this with. My husband happened to talk to guy's parents and they
stated that they would not be able to take care of another one of his
dogs. My husband brought The Duke over to my job and I fell in love with
him at first sight.
I call him everything but his name. He's "pooky bear" or "doobie." He
thinks he is a lap dog and will lay on my lap on the couch every night
when I watch TV. He loves to give kisses on a regular basis. All of the
neighbors take him in as there own. He loves to visit. His favorite
thing to do is hang out with all of the neighbors when we have bonfires.
He also loves to go for a ride in my husband's truck. He always has a
big smile on his face.
