About Us
Lindsay, the Dog of the Day
Name: Lindsay
Age: Four years old
Gender: Female Breed: Coonhound mix
Home: Colorado, USA

This is Lindsay, our wonderful coonhound cross. Lindsay has beautiful golden eyes and a sweet smile... and she loves meeting and playing with new friends.

My wife and I "special ordered" Lindsay from our local animal shelter, noting the characteristics we were hoping to find in a new pack member. Our shelter kept an eye out for dogs that roughly fit our description, and within a couple of weeks they called to tell us they thought they found a perfect match. Another shelter in the state had to find new homes for several animals that had not been adopted, or else they would have to be euthanized, and Lindsay was one of the unwanted animals. Lindsay showed up on our doorstep carrying her cuddle bunny, a stuffed bunny rabbit with one button-eye missing, and it was love at first sight. Although she was two years old, Lindsay had never been housetrained, but she is a smart girl and within a few days she had learned to wait at the door whenever she needed to be let out.

Lindsay likes to play a variety of games. She loves to play hide and seek with her stuffed squeaky toys, anxiously waiting while we hide a toy somewhere in the house and then sniffing from room to room until she finds it. When she does, she runs through the house squeaking the toy in a victory celebration. Lindsay also likes to play fight with her best friend, a neighbor's pit bull terrier named Tigré. They begin by making classic play bows, and then start chasing each other around in circles. They bark, growl, and snap... and occasionally pin each other down by the collar. It's all in fun, and they are very careful not to hurt each other. But Lindsay's favorite game is fetching the ball. She runs like a greyhound to catch fast-moving balls on the ground, and she enjoys leaping with all four paws in the air to catch a bouncing ball. After a fast-paced game of fetch, Lindsay likes to flop down in her wading pool to cool off and blow bubbles in the water.

At night, Lindsay curls up beside us on the couch or in bed to relax after the day's activities. With such good looks and a sweet personality, we can't imagine why she wasn't adopted from the animal shelter right away. But we're so happy that we were able to make her a member of our pack!
