Kodak, the Dog of the Day
Name: Kodak
Age: Nine years old
Gender: Male Breed: Chow Chow, Rottweiler mix
Home: Inglewood, California, USA

This is Kodak Moment. I named him that because when I got him as a pup he seemed to stand in a pose whenever I picked up the camera. Of course he is too aloof now to be bothered with pictures unless he is in the mood. This picture was taken after our morning walk and I guess he had time to pose.

Kodak is a wonderful dog. His Chow Chow and Rottweiler combo is great. You can't see his spotted tongue in this picture but it is there. I know he loves me as much as I love him. He is very protective but loves my family and friends. He's aloof around strangers and even if they call him by name (my neighbors know him from our walks) he ignores them and that can be quite embarrassing. What a rascal!

Once, on one of our early morning walks, I ventured to the ATM machine. Like most dogs, while I was using the machine he was standing next to me facing the other way. I didn't realize it but a man came running up to use the other machine (or so the man said) and Kodak, being the dog that he is, stopped him dead in his tracks. The man had to jump back almost three feet to get out of Kodak's reach. If it wasn't for Kodak I wouldn't have seen the man until he was right on me. Why would a person run up behind you without saying anything when they see a 70 pound dog standing next to you? I've been at that ATM machine before when others want to use it but usually they will say "coming behind you" and then I will pull Kodak in really close to me or walk away and allow them to use the machine first.

The metal dog behind him in the picture was a Christmas gift from my cousins. They said when they saw it, it reminded them of Kodak, and it does. Kodak's my companion and protector and my Dog of the Day every day.
