This
is my Shiloh Shepherd puppy Kodiak. He just has the most loving and
fun personality. He has been living with us now for five months since we
picked him up from Babbling Brook Shiloh Shepherds in Pennsylvania.
As you can see in his picture, he just loves to play. His main goal
in life is to make me smile. Just about anything and everything he does is
comical. He is an extremely intelligent puppy for only seven months. He is
pointed in the Rarities Show Ring and will hopefully gain his championship
title in the near future.
I am legally blind and have a somewhat difficult time with his last night
time walk. On one occasion, we were walking around in the back yard looking
for just the right spot to go potty, when we heard something moving around
in the yard. He quickly led me back up the driveway to the front walkway
and onto the side deck. This is the route we always walk, but him sensing
the danger, he could have easily tried to take the short cut and run up the
side hill to the deck. I really feel somehow he knew that I would have a
hard time with that and he quickly but gently let me know we have to get in
and get in now.
As it turns out, my stepson had come home about five minutes after this
happened and he said that a coyote ran out of the back yard. Amazing at four
months old he picked up on this and helped not only himself but also his
"Mommy" to safety.
This is the first of several instances that his raw instincts have appeared
without any training other than obedience. Kodiak truly is a special puppy!
