This
is Miss Grace, she is a mix of Greyhound and Coonhound. We live in
Des Moines, Iowa in the good ol' U.S.A. Gracie is a rescue dog from my
local Animal Rescue League. She is special because she is a very unique
dog, her tail curls up over her back in a perfect circle and she is just
the sweetest of dogs.
Gracie is very playful and goofy. She was on doggie death row when I met
her. My previous best friend had just died and I was just out looking in
hopes of feeling better and there she was. When I got her, her name was
Spirit, but I thought that sounded to masculine. After I brought her
home she was such a klutz (and still is), she fell off the couch, off
the bed and ran into the wall, I would say to her "Way to go Grace" and
it stuck, so now her full name is Gracie Macie Bark Bark. She will sit,
lay down, come when I call and high five on command, she is a very
smart dog and is extremely food motivated. She has a Whollie Mollie ball
and I fill it with snacks, she braces the ball against the couch with
one paw and bites at the bottom to break up the treats so they will fall
out. Gracie loves to play frisbee and chase cats, squirrels and rabbits.
She is not particularly affectionate, but she does like to lay with her
head on my lap and sleep right next to me at night. She is very vocal
and talks a lot. She is a goodwill ambassador, whenever I take here
anywhere, and I take her with me a lot, people come up to us and want to
pet her and talk to her (especially kids) and usually want to know what
kind of dog she is. Our beginning was kind of rough as I mentioned that
my best friend had just died, and Gracie was so different than N'tasha.
As a matter of fact I almost returned her to the shelter, she was not
N'tasha and my heart was broken. But instead I decided to give it more
time, and now I don't know what I'd do without her. She is a very
popular dog, she doesn't jump on people and has learned her manners
well. It's hard to put into words why she is special, I guess you would
just have to meet her to see why I and so many others think she is special.
