This
is my dog, Charlie. We believe he is a pit bull mix, but we're not
entirely sure. We're thinking he's either mixed with lab, mastiff, or american
bulldog. Charlie came to us about four years ago. My mom's friend's daughter had
called and told us that she found a young pit bull mix in her yard. She
already had a pit bull of her own, and couldn't care for another dog. We owned
four dogs of our own at the time, but she said that if she couldn't find a
suitable home for him, she'd take him to the ASPCA. We all knew that he would
most likely be put to sleep because he's a pit bull. Well, we decided to bring
him home. While I was waiting on the couch (I was about eleven at the time) I kept
saying "I hope he has a pink nose. I've always wanted a dog with a pink nose!"
When he came through the door, my jaw dropped. He had a pink nose!!! At first
we couldn't decide on a name for him. We were going to name him Chopper, but I
didn't like that name. We finally settled on Charlie Brown, which was
shortened to Charlie. His nicknames are "Slink" (when he gets really excited
his whole body wiggles, and when he walks, he "slinks" like a Slinky), "Big
Man", "Big Boy", and his "fake full name" is "Prince Slinky Simba".
Right now we own three dogs other than Charlie. He gets along great with all of
them. He's in love with our dog Daisy, and treats Maggie like his sister,
constantly "teasing" her. He treats our Pomeranian, Teddy, as his son. It's
quite hilarious to watch them play. He's very gentle with him, seeing as
there's a huge size difference (Charlie weighs about 115 pounds and Teddy
weighs about ten). Charlie is practically "my" dog. Don't get me wrong, he
loves the whole family, but he seems to be very fond of me. He hogs half of my
bed at night (and snores really loud), and follows me around everywhere. He's
very friendly towards people. Sometimes he's afraid of strangers, but as long
as you scratch his butt, you're okay in his book. He's great on walks. He
walks next to my side and doesn't pull or anything. The only time he pulls is
when there's another dog around because he's very insecure around strange
dogs, but after he calms down, he's okay. I get a lot of nervous looks from
people when I walk him because at first glance he's a very large, "scary" dog,
but once you get to know him, he's great! Anyone who has ever been in my house
knows him as "the big baby." He really is a wonderful dog. And isn't he just
gorgeous??? Enjoy the pictures!
