About Us
Bisous, the Dog of the Day
Name: Bisous
Age: Eighteen months old
Gender: Male Breed: French Bulldog
Home: Bellingham, Washington, USA

Bisous belongs to Sue Barker of Bellingham, Washington, but I am his full time daddy! He had his fifteen month birthday on Aug. 30. He says that if something called Kat can be the Dog of the Day he wants to ask for his chance too! He loves his people family, Kaela, our Shih-tzu, the two kitties Shae and Kaesha, the two ferrets Maranade and Marmalade. As well as "Trying to learn how to be nice to Zak," Sue's Amazon parrot. To finish he says his "Mega-Snoring," is outside of his control! "Bisous is the word for Kiss in French!"

As far as tricks are concerned, at fourteen months I focus more on obedience both on leash and off. He is very submissive with all medium to large size dogs at initial meting, but, even with a strong neighbor dog, which is a full grown male boxer, he has no problem with getting right into full fledged play, tussle, mode. He is sweet natured to both cats, loves playing with the ferrets without incident, and when we went 1600 miles round trip to get him at eight weeks old, we took Kaela, our now 3.5 year old Shih-tzu along, to bring him home. Being a little Bulldog, if left unsupervised, he will "Act," ferocious with Kaela to steal a cookie, biscuit, or bone, but he is very responsive to the slightest intervention by either Sue, or myself, that he be polite about letting her have what is hers. When I put Zak the parrot down on the floor with him, he tries to jump play and engage, but backs off, when Zak establishes her opinion about proper puppy vs. parrot decorum. Bisous loves all people and lives up to his French name... "Bisous"... or Kiss. He is never aggressive, but is strong enough to be a team member for the Iditarod Sled race! I tell people he is a miniature unhorned buffalo! He is wonderful if left alone while we are away, but his favorite resting place is on my bed and provisionally positioned between my knees!

He comes from a wonderful breeder in Le Grande, Oregon at bigfootbulldogs.com He loves car rides, where I always have a leash attached to his sturdy collar. And his position of preference is 1. back feet in my lap, 2. front feet on the open car window while I drive one handed, to cradle his lower tummy in the crook of my arm. His innate ability is to elicit a laugh, or smile from eight out of ten people who see him either in person or on his car rides.

As far as vocabulary is concerned, he could give Arnold the Pig, of, "Green Acres" a run for his money! And sleeping time is no worse than tuning out a loud snoring truck driver!

   Sincerely,
   Mommy Sue. And Daddy Mark
