This
is our dog, Marley. We got her at two months old. I was told that she
is a Lab/shepherd mix by the woman I got her from. She was rescued from
the wrong side of the tracks in GA. Her mom is a Lab but I highly doubt
the shepherd portion of her genetics. She looks and acts way too much like
a Basenji. I have had a trainer and a groomer mention that to me as well
because of her wrinkled brow, jaw line and those ears!
So we have decided to call her a Lasenji since she is only about 30-35
pounds and short like a basenji. My husband wanted a Lab, a black one, so
I found a woman who had some rescue puppies. I got to pick and well, I
just picked her up and didn't put her back down. It is kinda hard to pick
when you are in an enclosure with eight to ten puppies all vying for your
attention. I thought I had a good pick as she fit the black lab look as a
pup. Slowly the ears started to pop up, first one side and then slowly the other.
She is as goofy as they come and mischievous as well. She is a people
pleaser and loves to go for car rides. We have five kids and she loves to
be around them and all the neighborhood kids. She is good with the really
little ones and knows when she should go to her house and not cause
trouble. Marley has a great personality and even though she is not the Lab
I thought I had picked up, she is a great dog and everyone loves her.
We live by the beach and she loves the off season when she can go run in
the waves chasing clam shells.
