Ah,
Mikey. There's so much I could write about him even though we've only had
him for a little over two months. We got Mikey from a women who no longer had
the time to keep him, she felt guilty for keeping him in his crate for hours
on end and she made the very selfless decision to rehome him even thought it
broke her heart. I am personally very thankful for this decision, because if
she had not made it I wouldn't own the best dog in the world. I'm not sure who
rescued who anymore.
Mikey is a unique dog for sure, in looks and in personality too. Most
"puggles" are just tan with a brown muzzle, but Mikey seemed to have only
gained beagle traits. His hunting dog instincts shine through as well. He
barks at everything that moves and his bark sounds like the beagle bay. He
doesn't do it often, but he also howls sometimes. He loves other dogs and cats
and enjoys playing with them, even though when they aren't in the mood. He
wiggles his whole butt when he's excited and his play bows are the cutest
thing. He loves playing tug-o-war and fetch with his red soccer ball. He loves
his hedgehog and his piggy squeakies. When he isn't playing he's either
barking at people passing the house, on a walk, or chewing his bone. But most
likely he's in some type of mischief which could include something as small as
taking a christmas card to something as big as tearing his bed into shreds,
literally (which he did do by the way).
He loves people, he hates not getting attention. He steals pillows or shoes
when he doesn't get attention. He is an all around big teddy bear, he loves to
cuddle - as awkward as he makes it. He loves everyone in our family. Every time
one of us walks in we're sure a wagging butt will be there to greet us as
well. He loves little kids, but he plays too rough with them. He loves giving
kisses. He can be as sweet as can be one minute, and the next minute he wants
to play fight. He's extremely good at play fighting and wrestling. He only
bites out of play though, never to be aggressive. When one of us is laying
down or attempting to sleep, he's perfectly content with sleeping with us! He
loves being outside more then anything. His nose is always into something and
he barks at every passing car. He takes his walks very seriously. He also
enjoys going to Petsmart to see all the people, kitties, and dogs.
Mikey isn't perfect. Sometimes he frustrates us to no end whether it be
stealing my homework literally or some other trouble. He doesn't listen well
and he pulls at the leash on walks. He has alot of flaws, but I truly don't
care. I love this dog and cannot picture life without this psycho, hyper,
goofball of a dog. He's a true lovebug at heart and he would do anything for
my family and I. He's very protective of us and our house. The amount of love
and loyalty I get back is amazing from this hard-headed "pest" as some people
refer to him. He may have flaws, but when it comes down to it he belongs with
this family and fits in very well. I love Mikey and life without him would be
nothing.
