Hello,
this is a picture of our family dog, Ginger Pye. She is a
four-year-old purebred Australian Cattle Dog. She is very smart! When
giving her a treat, she can say "Mama." Well, not exactly the word,
"Mama," but she can make a two-syllable sound which simulates the word
"Mama." She does many other tricks, too. She is a loving and protective
dog. She also loves to herd her siblings (which are our cats) and she
loves to chew on rawhide bones. Ginger Pye got her name from an
award-winning children's book of the same name (written by Eleanor Estes).
She lives in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area and is loved by her
family.
She is our first herding dog. We've never had a herding dog before. I'm
not sure why we decided to go with this breed. We saw her advertised in
the paper as a puppy, and she was so cute! We researched the breed, and
she seemed like she would be a good fit for our family and lifestyle. She
is extremely smart... easily the smartest dog we've ever had. We live in
the country, and she never leaves the yard and never fails to come when
she is called. She can do all the usual tricks; sit, roll over, shake,
speak, and of course, saying "mama" which is unique, I think. She loves to
play fetch. She loves to be sprayed with the hose in the summer. She is
very protective of us. And she loves to cuddle and be with her family.
