Our
dog of every day here is Lily, the Maltipoo (her dad is a maltese, her mom
is a very pretty red-brown toy poodle). She is an extraordinary little dog.
Lily is one of those dogs that stops traffic wherever she goes. She clocks in
at less than seven pounds, but she is the happiest, most fearless and friendly
little personality. She loves other dogs and people of all ages with equal
enthusiasm. The first picture enclosed is when we met her at six weeks old.
She looks like a beanie baby, doesn't she? She probably weighed about a pound
and a half at that time. She is certainly the smartest dog we've ever owned.
Two days after we got her at nine weeks old, she would sit for me. What a
girl! She has taken the three levels of obedience classes at Petsmart, and has
won the hearts of many folks who don't normally like little dogs. I think even
the dog trainers were a bit skeptical, but they are Lily fans now. Also, we
are training her for Agility, and she just loves it! Turns out there is
something called "Teacup Agility" just for small dogs, and she has taken to it
like a fish to water. I don't think Lily knows how tiny she is - she counts
among her dog pals a Doberman, an American Bulldog, and a Standard Poodle!
There's definitely alot of Big Dog personality emanating from her big little
heart.
With her lovely butterscotch coloring, she looks like a tiny teddy bear - or
some have said (and we agree) she looks like a little Ewok from the Star Wars
movies! She also reminds me of a toy golden retriever, and appropriately
enough she loves to retrieve toys. Her tail is like a feather plume from a
Three Musketeers hat, and her little pink nose makes her look like a stuffed
animal. Can you tell that we are smitten? We think you would be too, if you
ever had the pleasure of meeting her, our Dog of the Day!
