Good
day to everyone, My name is Woody. I also have a few nicknames: Wood
Man, the Woodster and Woodrow. I think I'm a lap dog but
my mom tries to keep telling me that I am a 90 pounds German Shepherd. I was
adopted by my dog mom Debbie from a man who realized that I was going to be
too big for his house and yard. I live in Fairfield County Connecticut with
my two step sisters, Minky and Gretta who are also German Shepherds.
He has the personality of a lamb even though he is the size of a lion. He is
a big mush who loves nothing more than to just lie across me on the couch
while I or should I say we watch TV. He loves sticks and will think nothing
of picking up a branch much bigger than himself and running around the yard
with his prize. If he cannot find a branch on the ground he will jump up in
the air and try to take one of the low hanging ones off of the trees. You
should see him jump up around five feet high to reach one. He loves to play ball
and catch me if you can with me or Minky my black German Shepherd who is close
to him in age and they both run around the yard. Now that there is snow out
there, they all run with their mouths open trying to shovel the snow into their
mouths. When Woody saw the first snow flurries he was jumping straight up in
the air trying to catch and eat them all as they came down. What a sight to
see a now 100 large dog jumping in the air snapping at the snow flakes. He is
both affectionate and independent. He is my shadow but will also lie down
across the room so he is near but not too near. He will run around the back
yard sometimes for an hour not wanting to come in the house. All I have to do
is say "Goodbye, Woody" and he comes running over, not wanting to be left outside
without anyone else.
I adopted him from a man who said he did not have the time or the room to keep
him any longer. I had just put my best buddy Weylin to sleep a couple months
earlier and I had no intention of getting a third dog but when I saw him and
took him for a walk, I knew I had to give him a home. In the beginning it was
not easy, but he managed to settle in nicely with me and my other dogs.
