I
have the most darling dog and his name is Peanut. I found him in a
ditch in Indiana in 1997 which makes him approximately thirteen years
old. He was just a tiny little thing and nearly frozen in ten-degree
weather. I wrapped him up, took him home and he has been with me ever
since. The vet said he has the head of a Chihuahua and the body of a
Jack Russell, and of course his distinguishing feature, ears like a jackal.
He is a nine-pound bundle of love. He has a wonderful disposition. He
loves everyone he meets and everyone loves him.
He has an affection for small stuffed animals which I buy for him once
in a while and he gets so excited when he gets one. He never tears them
up, but will take them to bed with us at night. They all get a turn. He
snuggles with them. If I call them his toys, he just looks at me as if
to say "what did you call them?" But if I say "Get one of your babies,"
or "Put your babies away," he will go and pick them up and put them in
the box I have for them. He is very intelligent and understands what I
say to him. He knows sentences I use and words and will react to
whatever I have said.
My little boy lives in Walling, Tennessee, where he and I just bought a
new house and he is overjoyed at having two acres to run on. About three
weeks ago, he just got a five-year-old cat sister and he is going
through his second puppyhood. I think he is sniffing the catnip. He is
so happy to have her in the house and even lets her sniff his babies.
