About Us
DaisyMae, the Dog of the Day
Name: DaisyMae
Age: Three and a half years old
Gender: Female Breed: Miniature long-haired Dachshund
Home: Anacortes, Washington, USA

DaisyMae was a puppy mill momma who was rescued by Ginger's Pet Rescue. There was an awful puppy mill in Washington State that got closed down in the Fall of 2008 and hundreds of puppy mill dogs were taken by Ginger's to be cleaned up, socialized, spayed/neutered, and given a new forever home. DaisyMae was one of those mommas. All we know about her is that she had at least one litter and she was born in 2005.

Having rescued a Great Dane in 2007 and having had four Dachshunds in my life, I couldn't resist her lonely stare. She was looking right at me through the photo on Petfinder and pleaded for me to save her.

When we met, she was quiet but came to me unlike she had done to other potential forever homes. Dogs choose their owners and she wanted to come home with Max, Lily, and, me. On the ride home, she was quiet and just laid in a dog bed, watching... waiting.

She has become the liveliest part of my household. Her tail never stops wagging and it even becomes spastic with excitement. Max, her brother Dachshund, and Lily, her sister Great Dane, took to her immediately and loved her unconditionally. Lily will play with Max and DaisyMae in her gentle manner while the Dachshunds are growling with wagging tails at her from the other end of a stuffed toy.

DaisyMae brings laughter and love to my home. She's special because she is a beautiful girl with a huge heart full of love and goofiness for everyone she meets!
