Hi
all,
My pet's name is Juanita. A few months ago while web surfing, I chanced
upon Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego. I went to their dog fair and came
home with Twinkie, soon to be Juanita. She came home as a foster dog,
but within one day (ok, one hour), I knew that she was meant to be my little Chichi.
She was originally found living on the streets and animal control picked her
up. She was very timid and withdrawn, but after living with me a month (and
my tribe of two dogs, one cat, and eight spayed and neutered feral cats), she was a
new dog. She's now so sweet, affectionate, with a smile on her face all the
time, and just happy to have a loving home.
Her best friend Pepe, also a chihuahua, lives across the street and comes over
for a playdate every day! She eagerly awaits his arrival and when he comes in
the house, she immediately greets him with kisses.
Juanita is my third Chihuahua, my other two lived to the ripe old ages of seventeen and
eighteen. If Juanita could talk she would say, "all you out there considering getting a
chihuahua - please go to your local shelter or rescue group and take home one
of my brothers, or sisters that remain behind. You'll never regret it. And
please spay and neuter your pets!"
Juanita waits until she hears me start to wake up and she climbs from under
the covers to smother me with kisses. Being a chihuahua, she always seems to
get her tongue in my nostrils and I definitely wake up! She keeps kissing me
and climbing on me until I either jump out of bed or bury my face under the
covers. I love my little Juanita, or as I sometimes say, Juanneeeeta!
