This
is Mary Murphy. We first saw her at a local adopt-a-thon. She was at the
bottom of a big pile of her brothers and sisters -so much smaller and so calm in
comparison to the rest. I walked around holding her for a very long time. We
were looking for an older dog then. My husband, knowing that I'm one of the top
ten worldwide suckers-for-a-fuzzy-face, kept reminding me that we weren't
looking for a puppy and reluctantly she was left behind. A few weeks later I
went to a local rescue group who of course had many dogs that needed homes.
While I was there looking at the older dogs, another rescue member just happened
to stop by with a SUV full of dogs that he had just taken for vet checks and
shots. I wanted to take a look at that pack too - why not? Once again there was
a tiny little white pup under the rest just as calm as could be and trying very
hard not to get trampled.
He took her out of the pile and it was Murf once again. That little tan dot on
the top of her head was hard to forget. Pup or not, It was meant to be.
She's the perfect little lady, very well behaved and dainty. I never thought I'd
meet a prissy terrier, but that describes 'Queen Mary' perfectly. She doesn't
like to be wet or dirty, and she does not like her sibling/subjects to be badly
behaved. Her favorite things are checking for bird seed/digging under the
feeders, sunbathing on the driveway, surveying/patrolling her queendom from the
deck and being my shadow. She runs lightening fast and when she does she holds
her tail up like a question mark. Very funny. In her younger days she loved
chasing bunnies and looking for mice nests in the field. She still likes a good
chase once in a while but now she points those things out to her crazy brother
so he can chase them for her. We love our Murf and are so happy fate kept
bringing her our way.
