About Us
Spike, the Dog of the Day
Name: Spike
Age: Three years old
Gender: Male Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Home: Venice, Florida, USA

Little Spike is three pounds of sweetness and mischief who loves everyone, especially his owner. As long as he can see his owner or is in her lap he is happy. He loves to play fetch like his brother, Rachy (short for Rachmaninoff), but just can't compete with his four and a half pound feisty brother, who is the same age as he is.

He has an extensive vocabulary of words he understands. He barks at his owner to signal when he wants to go POTTY or DINNER or WALK or PLAY or RIDE or TREAT. He keeps barking until you say the correct word and then runs to the correct door or area once you say the word he wants. We have to spell the word "treat" or he goes crazy.

Spike is very affectionate with everyone... humans and dogs alike and he is a quiet little soul, not a barker. When his mom leaves he perches on the end of the couch so he can see the front door and the back door waiting for her to come back home. He also loves to snuggle in mom's robe in the morning until the house warms up. He loves to play fetch with squeaky toys, especially with his little fluffy squirrel. He also loves to play with the beach ball in the pool. When you throw it to him he bounces it back with his nose and will jump in the pool and push the ball around the pool. The beach ball is about three times his size.

   We love Spike!
