CJ was my heart dog, he passed away many years ago. CJ's full name was
Centauri's Juno Bear CD, CGC - which means he was a Canine Good Citizen. He
lived in Tulsa OK, and was a Bouvier Des Flanders dog. He was a blast. He
would hop up and down the street for about two blocks! He really freaked people
out doing that. He was just a super happy boy. People would stop in their cars
just to watch him. Stray dogs would cross the street, as they were not sure
what to make of this big hopping bear-like dog.
We went to the park three times a week to walk little kids would run up to him
and hug him. He was great with little kids. He was a great watch dog, I always
felt safe walking him at night, but that was back when it was safer out. I still
miss my CJ. He passed on at about 10 1/2 years old, his heart finally let him
down. But I will love him forever.
CD is a AKC Obedience title stands for Companion Dog. The next is AKC CDX
Companion Dog Excellent, and the highest is UD Utility Dog. Back in CJ's time, the
dogs had to jump one and one half times their height, and some dogs were
getting injured. Most of the AKC Dog Shows just were on thin rubber mats over
cement. I did not want to injure my Beloved CJ, so we did not go further in
obedience.
It was funny, we took him to the National Bouvier Speciality Dog show back in
1993. We showed in Veterans Obedience to get him a plaque. They had goats and
sheep to herd, but we thought at his advanced age (nine years old), and never
having herded in his life, we thought he should not do it. But poor CJ talked
to us and convinced us he want to do the herding so bad! We had driven to St.
Louis for the show. CJ was a very special dog.
