Mona
was rescued from an Animal Rescue group that my sister worked for in
the Summer of 2007. At the time Mona was about a year, and almost two years
old. Since the day she came to live with us, she has been a real blessing
to add to our family. She's sweet, gentle, smart, loving, caring,
enthusiastic and extremely playful. The day I saw her, I knew she would be
a great new friend for me, and for our other dog, Samantha. Samantha is my
first dog and is about eight years old. She had been an "only dog" until
the day we got Mona, and now the two of them can't stop playing with each
other! They both love their long walks, cuddles and treats! They are both
also similar breeds, Mona is part Labrador Retriever but we're not sure
what she is mixed with. Samantha is a Labrador Retriever, Border Collie and
a mix of something else. Both are also rescues.
Mona is a spunky character, she will always run laps around the house when
she gets excited, which wasn't much help when we moved from Sarnia to
Mississauga in March. Mona will do anything for her treats: sit, shake,
roll over, circle, jump, "cross paws" and even play dead. She also does the
task of practically jumping on Samantha to get her treat first. In the
summer Mona loves to relax in the sun, splash and run around in the
sprinkler, swim in the pool and splash around in her little "dog pool". She
likes getting everyone wet when she shakes, but it's all the fun of it! She
also loves to hike in the forests in any kind of weather, she loves the
adventure and all the new sights and smells. She loves going to the lake or
beach, just to swim and meet new people and dogs! And at the end of the
day, she loves cuddling up on the couch and watching TV or playing with her
toys, then comes up to bed with me and Samantha and sometimes practically
falls asleep on my face!
Mona and I are learning a lot from each other. She's such a sweet girl, and
I am thankful to have her with our family!
