It
is hard to put in only a few words what makes our puppy Bailey so
special! Only a few months before Bailey came into our lives, our
six-year-old Jack Russell mix, "Jack", passed away suddenly in his sleep
while cuddled in bed with my mother. Losing Jack so unexpectedly and at
such a young age made it almost unimaginable for us to even think about
getting another pet. Only a few months later, I happened to be reading the
classified ads one Saturday morning and noticed an ad for yellow
lab/shepherd mix puppies. Not twenty-four hours later, we had little Bailey
in our arms at home, only 6 weeks old. It didn't take long for us to
realize that Bailey was full of personality! His favorite game was to chase
us around the house and bite at our ankles. One morning we had to stop and
laugh as my whole family was sitting around the breakfast table with our
rubber boots on!
When he got old enough to jump on our beds, he liked to go around to all of
our bedrooms and wake us up by sitting on our heads! Even at 11 months old,
he still does this occasionally. He loves it when we talk to him - he
listens intently with his beautiful green eyes staring right up at us and
his head tilts from side to side as if he's trying really hard to
understand what we're saying!
His favorite thing in the world is to go out for walks - any word that even
resembles "walk" makes him perk up with sheer anticipation. He truly loves
other dogs and other people, especially children - always wanting to
interact with them, his tail wagging with pleasure. To summarize, Bailey
has been a shining star in our lives and our love for him and Jack made us
want to share their stories with the world! And a this is his first
Christmas, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, too!
