Tiki
is an American Eskimo Dog. We got her when she was a year old after she
had already been returned to her breeder. She lived where we used to lease a
horse and she had to live outside and was covered in mud all the time. We
felt sorry for her and just had to bring her home with us. I'm so happy we
did, she is such a great dog and she does everything with us. Tiki is also
great with other animals, she gets along great with our two cats and
absolutely loved my guinea pigs; they were her babies. She would always lick
them and let them snuggle with her. She likes to try and play with the cats
sometimes but she mostly just gets swatted in the face and then stands there
with a confused look on her face like "huh??" Whenever they start to play she
thinks she can just join right in. She is also very smart, she knows what you
mean when you tell her to "go find your ball" as well as "wanna go for a
walk?" and "wanna cookie?" and does many other tricks such as beg, roll over,
and back up. She is a quick learner and has completed beginner and practice
one obedience classes. She loves to please and gets a big goofy grin on her
face when she does something well.
Tiki loves to come everywhere with us; she comes camping, to the lake,
barbecues and everywhere else we can bring her. When we go camping she loves
to run through the forest with us and jumps over all the logs she can find,
she thinks its a big obstacle course built just for her. She also will swim
everyday and loves to go on all the floating boats and loungers, her favorite
is the boogie board and she lets us pull her around in circles and through
waves and she never falls! She also will swim but would rather go boarding,
she stands on the board on shore waiting for us to come get her. By the end
of the day she's pretty tired and sleeps in the tent with us but by the next
morning she's ready to start all over again!
Tiki also loves to jump! She will jump everything! If there's a branch down
in our backyard she will run over to it and jump it, same goes for when I
leave out a jump. We also do agility and her favorite parts are the jumping
(especially a bunch all in a row), tunnels, and the teeter totter. She is
very outgoing and is willing to try anything. We do it just for fun in our
yard and don't compete. She also loves fetching a ball, stick or pine cone
and playing tug-o-war. She pretends to be mean and starts growling when
playing tug-o-war but her tail is wagging the whole time and when she's not
pulling she's grinning like crazy. I'm so happy Tiki is with us and can't
imagine our life without her.
