This
is Rox-c, and when I got her she was on the verge of being emaciated.
Her current owner at the time had just taken her back from who they sold
her to, due to lack of care and nourishment. She was around five months old
when I got her and now she will turn two around June 2012. I am a homemaker
so I am with her 24/7, and she sleeps in the bed like a human (under the
blanket, on a pillow). She is the sweetest thing. She loves meeting new
people, and loves playing with small dogs. When someone is at the door she
will come barking... with her ball in her mouth. She thinks of herself as a
lapdog, if you are sitting on the couch (even with a laptop in your lap)
she will graciously glide through the air and land on your lap or as close
as possible, making herself fit even if there was no room.
She has tons of toys from .50 cents to $15, but she prefers her .50 cent
little orange and green rubber football. If she can't find her football
(because it's in a closed room) she will go find her soccer ball or rugby
ball to start kicking around. In the summer time the neighborhood kids
will come over to see if Rox-c can come out and play soccer. If I am doing
dishes and my feet are cold, she will lay on them for me. If there is a
baby around she will sit next to it, as if protecting it, and will let it
pull on her ear and tail and she just wags her tail and smiles. If I tell
her to spin, she will start spinning in circles (most of the time she will
get her football first, then start spinning).
She always knows how to make me laugh, and if I'm laughing she will
continue to do what she was doing. Even though she is around 80 pounds and
top heavy, she will sit up on her butt like our Jack Russell (or a prairie
dog) and wait for her ball to be tossed. I have recently taught her how to
play dead, and she even sticks her tongue out and widens her eyes, it
melts my heart with the things that she does. She can also; Sit, Spin,
Stay, Lay, Jump, Get her Ball/Rope/Stick (each by name), Shake and Other
Paw, Go for a Ride (she will sit like a human in the seat with a seat
belt), Play Catch, I can say take a bath and she will get herself in there
for me and wait, If she is running in the house I can tell her to slow
down and she will walk, If she isn't listening (which is very rare) I can
count backwards from five and she will be by my side no later than three. She
loves swimming and going to the park, but most of all she loves being by
my side and getting loved by me.
No matter how rough things get, she and her "sister" our Jack Russell
named Budders seem to understand. They are always by my side and listen
better then I do lol. Besides my boyfriend, they are my better half.
