I
would like to introduce my puppy. Maya is twelve months old, but I remember
the first time I saw her like it was yesterday. She and three of her
siblings were rescued by an organization when they were only eight weeks
old. They were found in a basket with no fur, covered in mites and lice. One
of the siblings was too weak and sick to make it, but three gorgeous
Shepherd/Rottweiler mix girls were treated and brought back to life. When we
came to meet the puppies, Maya came over to me and placed her front paws on
my thigh as I was sitting on the sidewalk. She picked me, and I fell in
love. She was five months old when my fiancé and I brought her home, but she
proved to be a quick learner and a dog. We didn't ever have to ask her to
sit for a treat twice. It's like she has manners built in!
Maya loves other people, but protects me on the streets from questionable
individuals. You should hear her bark! She carries my umbrella for me when
we go for walks; she makes circles around me at home when I'm dressing to
hurry me up; she leans on my leg and lies down on the bathroom mat with her
toy while I'm brushing teeth and getting ready. She rests her snout on my
lap as I eat in hopes of getting a piece of whatever I have.
She is an energetic dog just as much as she is a lazy bum. She loves baking
in the sun next to the open balcony door, rolling from side to side every 20
minutes as if to ensure an even tan. We love her to death and hope you will too!
