This
is Kai, and quite a handsome boy. He's just a year old, so is still growing
a little, we suspect he'll probably fill out more still. As we live in
British Columbia, he's pretty happy beaches are nearby. When Kai goes to
the beach he becomes obsessed with a finding the perfect stick... which
usually ends up being too big for us to actually throw. Once he finds "his
stick" he will not fetch anything else and will try to bury it so that we
can't steal it from him. This is Kai at East Sooke Park on his first
birthday doing what he loves best.
Kai is a fairly independent guy who likes to sit and watch the world go by
either from his front lawn or the front window in the winter. He is
probably like most huskys and doesn't really go for doing tricks but he is
famous for jumping up and down off tall cliffs/rocks on command. Kai's
favourite past times are fetching sticks in the ocean and chasing a lit
ball at the park late at night... we have never been able to wear him out
and usually end up dragging him home.
Kai was recently joined by a little sister named Lucy. Since being joined
by Lucy about five weeks ago he has taken on the role of big brother/protector
and keeps a close eye on her while at home and out at the park and beach.
Lucy is an eight-month-old husky/lab cross and is very affectionate towards us
and her brother Kai... he is slowly learning to be tolerant of her cuddles
but often looks at us with a "what have you done to me" face (sticking his
tongue out at us).
We love Kai, even if we are too feeble to throw what he regards as the best
sticks! He certainly keeps us laughing!
