Rodey
is an almost two-year-old lovable Beagle- Boston Terrier Mix a.k.a. a
Boggle! This wonderful dog was found on the side of the road by a kind
police officer after someone had tossed him out of a car window. The
officer took him to a local vet who was determined to help him. He was
broken and bruised and unable to raise his head. He was named Rodey and
with much care and support he was nursed back to health. As one would
imagine, it was difficult to find a home for Rodey. But God was watching
and must have known that I would be the perfect Mommy for this little dog
who had endured so much. I fell in love with him at first sight and he has
brought joy to everyone who has met him.
Rodey has a special love for my father who lives with me since my Mom
passed away. Each day you can find him on Poppy's lap taking an afternoon
siesta. He loves his toys and loves to chew them! He loves to eat and this
once underweight dog needs to curtail some of his eating habits. Easier
said than done when he looks at you with those soulful eyes when you are
eating a bagel or a pretzel or a cracker!
Rodey loves to be outside and with his little beagle nose, tracks
everything and anything in our back yard. He is gradually overcoming his
fear of riding in the car. In the beginning it was very difficult for him
as I am sure he remembers what was done to him.
He loves to snuggle with me on the sofa and actually pulls down the afghan
from the back of the sofa and settles next to me all covered up. Around
10PM each night, his eyelids become heavy and he starts to blink and with
his "beagle voice", lets me know that it is time for bed.
Rodey has brought so much happiness to me and my father and to everyone who
knows him. Because of what happened to him, his legs are not as straight as
they should be and when he runs, he tends to go sideways. But that doesn't
stop him and one of the greatest things to see is this happy little dog
running so very quickly and holding up his beautiful face that at one time
only could look at the ground.
Rodey is a blessing from above and I hope to share many years with him.
